Further trial run by EDF-Re

Post by Marc »

Please see the following message received from EDF-Re:

We are in the process of completing the final few concrete base foundations for the turbines and we are now gearing up to move to the next phase of works.

Delivery of turbine components to site
From September, the delivery of the turbine components will take place and I will be able to provide more detail about this in due course.
In advance of this, a trial run of the type and size of vehicle being used to transport the parts will take place from Cairnryan Port to the site via the A77 and U90w on Tuesday 1 July. See attached route for information.

This will see one large heavy goods vehicle deliver a mock component to the site under police escort to test the route and infrastructure which was built as part of the preliminary works in recent years.

We apologise in advance for any disruption this may cause and the teams will be as flexible as they can with road users. Please drive with caution and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time.

The planned escort will take place to site leaving the Port at Cairnryan at around 10.30am on Tuesday 1 July. It is expected to take approximately two to three hours via the attached route. It will then leave the wind farm site at approximately 3pm, again taking roughly the same amount of time to go back to the Port.

Assessment of U90w and U84w
An ongoing assessment has been taking place across the U90w and U84w looking at the condition of roads. We are currently liaising with our contractors to complete the assessment and map out a schedule of works. There will be urgent repairs taking place over the coming days on some parts of the road. In order for this to be done in the most effective way this may mean short closures to ensure the safety of the team and to allow the works to be completed as quickly as possible. I will be back in touch in due course once we have further information about this.

A77 road works by Scottish Power Energy Networks
I also wanted to inform you of some works unrelated to the wind farm which are taking place over the coming weeks and months on the A77 from Stranraer to Cairnryan which might have an impact on you day to day. The works, being carried out by Scottish Power Energy Networks to improve the electricity network in the area will start on 30 June and last until 5 September. Traffic management will be in place throughout the duration of works. For further information about this visit here.
